About Me

Alison M. Tetrault PMHNP-BC

I'm Ali, a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with a passion for health and well-being. Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of working with individuals facing various mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, substance use disorders, post-traumatic stress, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorders in the inpatient and outpatient settings.

Throughout my practice, my primary focus has been on achieving and maintaining symptom stability with attention to de-prescribing unnecessary or ineffective pharmacotherapy if appropriate. I approach care with the intentions to reduce burden on the body, provide support the mind, and to empower sense of self.

My practice appreciates the pivotal role of nutrition and psychotherapy in long-term mental health maintenance. My preferred psychotherapy models are ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and IFS (Internal Family Systems), which I integrate into my practice to empower individuals on their mental health journey. Additionally, I am Reiki 2 certified and have completed courses with the Feng Shui Institute. Energy work can be incorporated into sessions upon request.

I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Vermont and completed my Master’s Degree at Regis College. Post-graduate studies have included an Integrative and Functional Psychiatry Fellowship through Psychiatry Redefined, and work with the IFS Institute. I also stay closely connected to the Hoffman Institute serving as their graduate leader for Maine.

Outside of my professional life, I call the Portland, Maine area home, where I share my life with my dog, Sophie. During my free time, I love to be outside, seek new travel experiences, and embrace opportunities for exploration and personal growth.
